Painted in acrylic paint on reused Japanese rice paper, I was inspired each day at the beginning of lockdown to paint a different dog using a mainly monochromatic colour palette. Responding to the unique dimensions and texture of the paper I wanted to capture each dogs personality in a different way, playing with colour and how I could use it to depict the solid form of each figure.

These portraits have been professionally framed in a black frame with a worn edge detail to compliment the medium. The delicate, double layered texture of the rice paper is captured underneath the glass.

Framed these pieces measure 13.5cm wide x 33cm high. A wonderful size for displaying in a pair or set, or as a striking piece in an special spot.
