About me

The deep & meaningful

So, just to manage expectations, I don’t have some amazing origin story where I was working in a dead end job and then my whole world changed. My story is one of much trial and error, turning awkwardness into awesomeness, finding my own voice and just gradually shouting louder and louder.

I grew up in Britain as the eldest of five siblings, before emigrating with my family to New Zealand when I was 14. My family was/are creative and weird (aren’t they all?) and all I ever wanted was to just fit in. I worked SO hard at fading in to the background - I did well at school, I was a reliable local babysitter, I went to university to study law…

And, halfway through my second year the wheels well and truly fell off.

When I started to emerge from my mental health crisis, I decided to focus on art and design - something that had always seemed like a hobby more than an actual job prospect, but something that I loved and could make me happy (this seemed important). I completed a Bachelor in Design majoring in illustration at Auckland University of Technology and set about being as creative as I possibly could be.

From there, I went on to grow my own business selling my art prints, and started sharing all the other random bits and pieces I was working on for myself on social media. Which leads us to now. I’ve been my own business for over 12 years and built a strong personal brand with numerous international partnerships and endless exciting opportunities (don’t worry, you know there’s all the boring stuff too, and the self-employed admin ughhh).

Year after year, as things get weirder, I learn more and get bolder. I’m dedicated to sharing this with you all, and encouraging others to find their wonderful weird! It’s a bloody good time, thanks for coming along for the ride.

The essential facts

• I’m a number 9 on the enneagram and E/INFP in Myers Briggs - and that feels pretty accurate to me, for whatever it’s worth.

• The first ever concert I went to was the Spice Girls at Wembley Stadium, but it ended up being the week after Geri left (noooo).

• Peanut Butter is my absolute favourite (super crunchy of course).

• I’ve watched all of X-files and The Sopranos at least five times through and I will again.

• The least interesting thing about me is my dress size BUT I love the body I’m in, and I love fashion. This is who I am and I’m determined to inspire others to feel the same and dress the body you have, joyfully.

• Reading reviews on beauty websites is incredibly relaxing.

• So is reading ghost stories on reddit.

• My star sign is Aries.

• My favourite colour is…nah I couldn’t possibly answer that…Pinorangurple

• I really am very friendly and upbeat but I LOVE (and need) total solitary days.

• Never turn on the big light (lamplight for life).

• I swear I don’t spend as much time op shopping as you think I do.

These are my dogs Biggie and Pebbles. I also have two cats called Maeby and Tweed, and a husband called Sam. #aboutme
